I am a Ph.D. student at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. I study the History of Biblical Interpretation, which includes Jewish and Christian interpretations of the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament. My interests are religion, politics, TV, movies, and reading.
Ordinarily at my church, someone from a charity comes to speak to us once a month. We haven’t had this for quite a few months, but we did today. A woman was telling us about hospice, in which a chaplain ministers to a dying person’s spiritual needs. I thought about what my spiritual needs would be if I were dying. I’d probably be happy to talk with someone and to receive inspiration. But I wouldn’t want a chaplain who would shove conservative Christianity down my throat.
