Young Bree

Remember the very first episode of Desperate Housewives, in which Rex Van de Camp asked his wife, Bree (played by Marcia Cross): "What ever happened to the woman I fell in love with--the one who drank milk from the carton?"

If you are like me, your reaction was probably, "Yeah, right!" Bree is such a neat-freak! When she heard that her husband Rex died, she cleaned the silverware to utter perfection before she broke down and wept. Certainly Bree wouldn't drink milk from the carton. She's obsessive about putting drinks on coasters!

But this clip from Melrose Place gives me a good idea of what the younger Bree was like: I'M A DOCTOR, NOT A MAID. On Melrose Place, Marcia Cross played Dr. Kimberly Shaw. Her boyfriend/fling Michael wants her to do her laundry, and she replies that she's a doctor, not a maid. How different that is from Bree Van de Kamp, the perfect homemaker!
