Celeste Holm

Actress Celeste Holm has passed on.  See here.  She was in a lot of things, and she won awards, but what I remember her for is the following:

----She was the Fairy Godmother in the 1965 Roger and Hammerstein's Cinderella.  She sang "Impossible? It's Possible."  See here.

----She was Aunt Polly in the 1973 Tom Sawyer movie that had Jodie Foster in it.  Aunt Polly slapped Tom for taking the Lord's name in vain when he said something wouldn't be the case if he were God!

----She was in the scene of Three Men and the Baby that had the ghost, or the cardboard cut-out of Ted Danson.  Take your pick!

----She was on a 1989 remake of Polyanna entitled Polly, which had Keshia Knight Pulliam and Phylicia Rashad.  Celeste Holm was the grouchy lady whom Polly won over with her charm, and that brought together the separated white and African-American communities.

----She was the sweet grandmother on Promised Land, a spinoff of Touched by an Angel.

R.I.P. Celeste Holm.
