At church this morning, the liturgy described God as one who "dispels the gloom of evil with deeds that are good." In my opinion, God sometimes does this himself, though many of us (including myself) wish he'd do so more often. And God also does so through people, who are his hands and feet. But whether there's a God or not, good deeds can dispel the gloom of evil. Or at least good can balance out evil, or help people who are the victims of evil.
